I put the AI search plugin on the store site last Saturday, free plan, and I've been typing weird things into it all week to see what comes back. Classic theme, about 40 pages and something like 90 event posts from The Events Calendar, no products in it because we sell in store with Square.
The good bit first. I typed "puzzle for a 5 year old" and it found the kids' corner page. Our old search gave me nothing for that, because the page doesn't say "5 year old" anywhere, it says "ages 3 to 6" and "little ones". A customer did almost the exact same search on the tablet at the counter on Thursday and got the right page, so that's one real person it helped - not just me.
Now the not so good bit. "opening hours" still gives a blog post from 2019 first, the one where we changed the hours for a holiday week, and the actual contact page comes second. I'm pretty sure a normal person clicks the first result and gets hours that are 7 years wrong. I haven't found a way to tell it which page matters more, or I'm looking in the wrong place.
The floating button also sits in a weird spot. It's half over the header on desktop and on my phone it covers the menu icon. I pushed it down with a bit of CSS from a tutorial but I'm not thrilled about that.
Indexing took around 10 minutes for everything, which was fine.
I'd keep it for now. Game night people search for odd stuff like "the game with the camels" and it got that one too, which I did not expect.
Edit: 2019 post, not 2018, I checked.
