Order Confirmation Emails Have Not Gone Out Lately

Orders are coming in fine: the emails are not.

For about a week nobody got an order confirmation.

I only found out because two people phoned. They asked whether their payment had gone through. That is not a nice call to get!

I run WooCommerce on Hostinger managed, with Elementor. Razorpay and UPI. I changed nothing that week.

I placed a test order. The order shows up in the dashboard. No email – I looked in the spam folder, nothing there.

Where do I start looking?

Maybe you could please tell me if there's anything in the WooCommerce logs which may indicate whether or not emails are being passed on for sending.

(When I say passed on for sending I mean, whether or not it's being handed off at all.

Which will require you to be able to open that.)

Also, try one test order confirmation to an address you own (and one to, say, info@freemail.com or whatever) to see if there are issues at all.

The confirmation of the test order to my own email appears within seconds. For the one to the big provider it never does show up in the in-box or spam folder.

(Only just learned I can look at a log, can do it tomorrow.)

Im guessing this is because of the WooCommerce update in version 11.0.1. The timing lines up: my problems started around the same time the shop got updated.

In case any others run into the same problems and are stumped .

First thing to check: has WooCommerce been updated on your shop? That's the only thing I can point at so far. I haven't found anything yet that fixes it.

I'll know more once I get into that log tomorrow, because this has taken me forever and I had nowhere to turn except the forums.

Right, that update did change logging and the Store API. What it didn't change is how the mail gets sent. So I don't think that release is what stopped your confirmations.

The way to interpret what you're seeing is this: one provider accepted your mail. One dropped it without saying so.

And that has absolutely nothing to do with whether it is the Store API or WooCommerce that's being used.

The fact that one accepted and the other didn't at the exact same time suggests that, the most likely explanation is the domain you're trying to send mail from isn't matching the SPF or DKIM records of the server that sends the shop's mail.

We had the same 'no response' failure - when my host switched out to the new server (still only old one SPF listed)

We had two large providers

This is how I send the email through my server:

Mail provider = same one as the one sending my email.

I use the smtp plugin and an application password

From-address is a real one on my own domain.

I don't touch anything related to the SPF or DKIM records except what the mail provider suggests in their documentation

With 200 orders a month does it worth to move to a sending service, or is the smtp plugin enough at that volume?

Yes! SMTP was enabled: Confirmations are coming through now to both providers.
