AI Search installed but nothing changes

Why does the shop search still give the old results after I installed AI Search?

I asked yesterday if it is worth it and I took the advice, free plan, installed since this afternoon.

In the setup page the side by side looked good. I typed ludwigia there and it found my three Ludwigia plants so that bit works.

But on the shop itself nothing is different. The search box in the header still shows the same dropdown as before and when I press Enter on "ludwigia" I get "no products found", exactly like last week.

Classic theme, Vimexx shared hosting. I deactivated and activated the plugin once. That is all I dared to try.

Is there a switch I'm missing or can it be that another plugin sits in front of it?

The dropdown is the clue. IIRC the side by side on the setup page of Optimi AI Search runs its own box not the one of your theme so that's what works and the header box is still something else.

Which theme is it exactly? And can you look in your plugin list if there's an other search plugin, one with "search" or "ajax" in the name.

I'm not sure it is that, but a dropdown that appears while you type is actually never the plain Woo search.

Ok, theme is Storefront... And yes, there's FiboSearch in the list, my son put that on years ago and I forgot it.

That might be the dropdown then ?

Yes, I had exactly this on my shop with an old live search plugin.

That's your dropdown. The AI search plugin leaves a search box alone when another plugin already puts its own live list on it so on your end it never gets a turn.

Go to Plugins and deactivate FiboSearch.

Then search ludwigia again in the header.

That fixed it for me.. The Storefront box went back to normal and the new results came.

This is the bit I meant on Wednesday, every plugin brings a surprise! I think even my printers only fight when I add a new one.

Who knew it was that simple? FiboSearch off and ludwigia finds all three!
